Lobbying
Supporting laws that benefit water quality and opposing those that worsen it
501(c)(3) organizations like CWAC are limited in how much lobbying we can do by the internal revenue code,
but promoting beneficial new legislation or opposing a harmful new law is important. Consequently, CWAC
works within its legal requirements to fight water injustice through lobbying.
One example of our lobbying effort is a letter we wrote New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy asking
him to sign a bill allowing municipalities to create stormwater utilities. Stormwater Utilities
give towns a powerful tool to reduce stormwater pollution and improve water quality.
